CHARITY AUCTIONS Start: 26 September 2008 As most of you know, the town of Morpeth in Northumberland has suffered the worst flood in a century. As a consequence, many people have to rebuild their lives and businesses from scratch. Click here for a video showing the aftermath of the disaster (provided by The Morpeth Herald) The Morpeth Lions Club has set up a flood fund for those in need of help. We want to help as well. Being poor, starving artists, we don't have any personal funds to donate, but we do have our skills! So you will now get the chance not only to win two very unusual and unique pieces of art, but also help people in need. If that's not a bargain, then I don't know what is.
ITEMS UP FOR AUCTION Click here: AUCTION I (Emma Collingwood) Be the first person to read "Last Service", one of the Georgian Royal Navy Ghost Stories from my upcoming book! Not a printout, mind you - the tale comes handwritten (in ink, of course!) on 18th century-style, handmade, cream-coloured paper (courtesy Museum for Paper, Writing and Printing.) "Last Service", set aboard HMS Victory, honours the tradition of the classic 18th and 19th century ghost stories.
Click here: AUCTION II (Amandine de Villeneuve) Mlle de Villeneuve has generously donated her original illustration for "Last Service". Drawn in ink on handmade paper, this is an exquisite example of her talent. It's a portrait of Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood and his dog "Bounce". He never went for a stroll without some acorns, planting them everywhere so Britain would never run out of oaks providing timber for the navy.
CONDITIONS The two auctions are held on ebay.co.uk. Payment must be made as a direct donation to the Morpeth Lions Club Flood Fund. We'll provide the winners with the details. You may not pay by credit card or paypal! All sales are final. Copyright remains with Emma Collingwood and Amandine de Villeneuve. Manuscript and illustration are for personal enjoyment only and may not be published in any form. If you should have any questions, please don't hesitate to mail us: morpeth @ emmacollingwood.com
